Mid-Week Stewardship Thought

Being Rich Toward God

C. S. Lewis said, “He who has God and wealth has no more than he who has God alone.” In God’s Word we read that Christians are “sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, yet possessing everything” (2 Corinthians 6:10). As Christians, we understand that true wealth does not consist of worldly possessions but in being rich toward God. As believers, we may not have much in the ways of material things, but we have all we need in Jesus. May God grant us the attitude of Job who said, “The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised” (Job 1:21).

Prayer: Dear good and gracious Heavenly Father, change me into the steward that You want me to be. Help me to see that true wealth only comes from You. Grant me faith like Job’s so I can hold onto my material possessions loosely. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Blessings on your journey as a steward!
