The Pit Stop: 1950 vs. Today

Here is one documented way motor sports has changed over the years–the speed of the time a car spends in the pits to change tires, get refueled, and make adjustments. We compare a 1950 pit stop at the Indianapolis 500 with a 2013 Formula One pit stop:

Notice only four crew members used in 1950 and a whole herd today! Either way is quicker than we get service at our gas stops.
