Mid-Week Stewardship Thought

Receivers of God’s Gifts

In spite of our unworthiness and our sinful ways, God blesses us physically and spiritually. God gives and keeps on giving. God is a loving and giving God. Through His Word and Sacraments, we receive God’s grace that gives us this life and life eternal. We receive His love that didn’t spare His only Son. And we receive His forgiveness along with His victory over sin and death.

James 1:17 reads, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights…” The air we breathe, the food we eat, and the places where we live are all made possible because of God’s grace. Through His Word and Sacraments, we receive His grace that gives us life eternal. We receive His love that didn’t spare His only Son. And we receive His forgiveness along with His victory over sin and death. God is the giver, and we are the receivers. As God’s redeemed people we receive God’s gifts with joy and thanksgiving. What a privilege it is to receive daily God’s love, grace, and mercy. Through faith, we become dependent upon God’s gifts, and we receive them willingly and cheerfully. May God help us receive His gifts and to share His gifts with Him by giving to others and to His Church.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, You have created all things. Thank You for my physical and spiritual life. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Blessings on your journey as a steward!
