Turning to Celebrate the Nativity

The celebration of Christmas begins in earnest today with Christmas Eve services. If you remember, I posted recently about the O Antiphons of Advent and I want to point out how they help us turn to the celebration of Jesus’ birth.

The “Great O Antiphons” help us count down to Christmas. Each addresses Jesus with a different title. O Sapientia (Wisdom), O Adonai (Lord), O Radix (Root), O Clavis (Key), O Oriens (Dayspring), O Rex, O Emmanuel.” If you take the first letter of each Latin title, starting at the end, you get two Latin words: Ero Cras, which translate, “Tomorrow I will be there.” That’s Jesus’ answer to our yearnings, “Surely I am coming soon” (Revelation 22:20).

Enjoy Christmas. Enjoy our Savior. Enjoy all He brings to you.

Merry Christmas!
