To All of My Cubs Friends

Yesterday was the first game of the 2017 season for the St. Louis Cardinals (and the Chicago Cubs). The results were predictable (although the process to get there was a bit convoluted). Cardinals–4 and Cubs–3.

The St. Louis Cardinals are celebrating their 125th anniversary in 2017. The team began to provide some competition for the team from Chicago. Sadly to say, the Cardinals have kept up their end of the bargain; the Cubs have not.

Why do I say that? Well, let’s look at the numbers.

Division Wins–

St. Louis: 13; Chicago: 4

National League Pennants–

St. Louis: 19; Chicago: 17

World Series Wins–

St. Louis: 11; Chicago: 3

Anyway you look at it, the St. Louis Cardinals have had a better performance record than the Cubs. Yes, the Cubs won the World Series last year but at the pace they are on to duplicate that achievement this won’t happen for another 108 years (or 2125!). Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

Regardless, enjoy the new season!

  1. You can enjoy the past but you cannot live there. Take it from a Cardinals fan who has witnessed World Series wins in 1964, 1967, 1982, 2006 and 2011. When you personally experience that many championships come back and we’ll talk.
